Located on the low-lying banks of the River Rhine in the northeastern tip of Liechtenstein is the municipality of Schellenberg. According to the last national census in 2005, the population of the town is approximately 952 inhabitants, which when you consider the entire population of Liechtenstein (a mere 35,000) does not sound quite so little after all.

Although a very small population, it happens to be quite typical of such a settlement in Liechtenstein. It is about a mile southeast of Ruggel and about two miles northeast of Gamprin, so both are within easy walking distance, which comes highly recommended as a way to see the beautiful surroundings.
